Helping a Student of Concern
Recognizing Students in Need of Care
Time and time again, Notre Dame students express the significant, positive impact the Notre Dame community has had on their overall experience both in and out of the classroom. During critical and challenging times, you may be the person a student feels comfortable turning to for help. You may also be the first person to notice when something is not quite right or to sense that a student is struggling. Knowing how to approach and effectively engage a student in this situation is an important skill to develop. Behaviors to look for and suggested responses can be found here.
We recognize that people have different comfort levels when it comes to discussing sensitive topics with students or peers. We hope you will reach out to the Care and Wellness Consultant assigned to your college for assistance on how to address a situation or to make a referral for services on campus. For a list of additional campus resources, please visit our campus resources page.
If you would like to refer a student or have a student concern you'd like guidance on, you also can make an online referral online through the secure online reporting form. You may also reach out to the individual Care and Wellness Consultant in the pertinent college by visiting our Contact page.
