Accessibility Leadership Fellows Program

The Accessibility Leadership Fellows (ALF) peer mentoring program is designed to increase campus accessibility and support for incoming students with disabilities, as well as to strengthen the community amongst current students with disabilities at Notre Dame. The ALF program is a collaborative effort between the newly-founded Student Government Department of Disability Advocacy, and the Sara Bea Accessibility Office.

The vision of the ALF program is to establish a community that celebrates, mentors, and advocates for Notre Dame students with disabilities. Mentees in ALF are matched with a current student on campus who can share their institutional knowledge of available support and resources, as well as their lived experience as a Notre Dame student with a disability. Through both individual and group meetings throughout the academic year, we hope to foster an increased sense of belonging for incoming students with disabilities.

If you are interested in participating in the ALF program, or would like additional information, please contact Sara Bea Accessibility Services via email or phone (574)-631-7833.

Access-ABLE Student Club

Welcome! Access-ABLE is a club for students with disabilities and their abled-allies that seeks to promote disability awareness and inclusion on campus, as well as to provide a supportive community for students with disabilities. As a club, we host biweekly meetings so that our members can come together and optional weekly “hang-outs” so our members can talk and get to know each other in a more casual setting. To spread awareness across campus we host a variety of different events and collaborate with other groups on campus. Examples of events we’ve done in the past are speakers and student panels. We want to emphasize that this group is for everyone. All we ask is that you have a desire to make Notre Dame a more inclusive place for all and want to create positive change here on campus. However, you might find this club especially helpful and fulfilling if you are a student with a disability. Feel free to reach out with any questions or inquiries at accable@nd.edu!

The Department of Disability Advocacy

The Department of Disability Advocacy is a group of disabled students and allies that is advocating for a more inclusive and accessible Notre Dame. As a part of Student Government, we push for administrative policies that better support students with disabilities in addition to hosting events to increase the visibility and awareness of disability. We are also involved with mentoring students who are using Sara Bea accommodations for the first time. Email the Director of Disability Advocacy, Mary Grace Walsh, with any questions, comments, or suggestions!
